An aircraft maintenance stand is a mobile work platform that raises technicians to the landing gear, wings, engines and tail of an aircraft. Victory GSE sells and leases used B-series maintenance stands, including B-1, B-2, B-4 and B-5 types. Every stand shown below is in stock in Los Angeles. Request a quote for pricing and lease terms.

B-Series Maintenance Stand Heights Compared
B-series maintenance stands are height-adjustable platforms built to U.S. military patterns and now used by airlines, MROs and air forces worldwide. Pick a stand by the platform height range you need. Ranges below are from our current listings.
| Stand type | Platform height | Typical work area |
|---|---|---|
| B-4 | 34 to 84 in | Landing gear, wheel wells, lower fuselage |
| B-1 | 36 to 120 in | Lower wings, doors, nacelles |
| B-5 | 7 to 12 ft | Wings and engines on mid-size aircraft |
| B-7 | 7 to 15 ft | Upper fuselage and engines |
| B-2 | 13 to 20 ft | Tail sections and tall aircraft |

Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Stands
Most B-series stands raise the platform with a hand or foot hydraulic pump, then lock it with mechanical stops. Tronair’s current B4 and B5 platforms use a 3 by 8 ft deck rated for 500 lb, with a safety fuse that stops the stand from collapsing if hydraulics fail (Tronair). Tronair’s B5 raises its platform to 144 in, or 12 ft (Tronair, 2026).
What to Check on a Used Maintenance Stand
Check that the hydraulics hold height under load and that the mechanical stops engage at every position.
- Hydraulic leaks at the pump, hoses and cylinder.
- Guardrails, ladder and deck grating for bends or cracks.
- Casters, brakes and towbar for safe positioning around the aircraft.
- Bumpers on the platform edges to protect the aircraft skin.
The FAA’s Advisory Circular 00-34B (2024) covers safe ground handling and servicing practices around parked aircraft.
How to Choose the Right Stand Height
Start with the highest point a technician must reach, such as an engine cowling, a wing access panel or a tail inspection point. Choose a stand whose platform puts that point between chest and head height for the crew. If one stand must serve several aircraft types, size it for the tallest job and confirm it still lowers far enough for the shortest.
Check the floor space too. Taller stands use wider bases for stability, so measure clearance around the aircraft and between hangar bays.
Buy or Lease a Used Maintenance Stand
Buy stands you use every week. Lease extra stands for a heavy check, a short-term contract or a surge in hangar work. Victory GSE offers both, and we can pair stands with other ground support equipment in one shipment. Tell us the aircraft types and the work areas you need to reach, and we will suggest stands from our current listings.
Maintenance Stand FAQ
What is the difference between a B-4 and a B-5 stand?
Both use a scissor-type frame and a hydraulic pump. The B-4 reaches 84 in, while the B-5 adjusts from 7 to 12 ft for higher work.
Which stand reaches the highest?
The B-2 has the tallest range in our inventory, at 13 to 20 ft. It suits tail sections and engines on tall aircraft.
Are B-series stands only for military aircraft?
No. B-series stands follow U.S. military designs, but airlines, MROs and business aviation hangars use them on civil aircraft every day.
